About Me
Reinvention takes time, but it’s worth it. After spending almost 20 years as an art director working in the advertising world, I realized it was time to make a career change. As exciting as advertising can be, it's known to be a high-pressure environment where individuals are prone to a disproportionate amount of burnout, anxiety, depression, substance abuse, and a myriad of interpersonal struggles; all of which I had firsthand experience with. Although it was a process that took years, I intentionally slowed down, turned inwards, and reconnected with myself by helping others.
I know what it is to experience failure, transition, and loss (both death and non-death grief) and I have a special connection with those who are struggling with similar issues. I believe that anyone can have a better life when they feel safe, understood, and validated. As a curious and compassionate listener, I use an integrative approach to therapy where each person’s particular challenges inform how we will work together. I’ve found that looking at the stories we tell ourselves and finding a new narrative is vital to making real change and achieving our goals. I am confident that my life experience, education, ongoing training, humour, and ability to quickly connect with others will offer you strong support during your time of need.
Finally, cultural competency is integral to my practice. Many of my clients identify as BIPOC and/or part of the LGBTQ2S+ communities, and I take every opportunity to learn from them about their distinct worldview, level of acculturation, and life experiences when collaborating on treatment planning.
